Uttarkashi
Blessed with flourishing beauty of nature, Uttarkashi, a border hill district in the northern state of Uttaranchal, holds the grace of having the origin of rivers Holi Ganga and Yamuna, the lifelines of India. Also known as the 'Devbhumi' (The land of gods and goddesses), Uttarkashi is also the land of two famous Hindu pilgrimages ' Gangotri' and ' Yamunotri'. Ashram is just on the bank of Holy Ganges and opens throughout the year, there is no Kitchen facility their except only the accommodation. This ashram has got Shiva Temple in it.
Gangotri
It is at an altitude of nearly 11000 ft. above sea level, established nearly 55 years ago. Accommodation is logwood huts for one man's accommodation, lighting is with the help of fuel , kitchen facility is their of four normal meals in a day. This ashram works six month in a year when the snow is cleared & road is opened. The way to Gangotri is very picturesque having sites like Switzerland, snow clad peaks are visible throughout the road.
